The Department of Geology provides students with an in-depth understanding of the Earth, its structure, materials, processes, and history. Students enrolled in the B.Sc. PMG (Physics, Mathematics, Geology) group and B.Sc. (Chemistry, Zoology, Geology) group are eligible to study in this department, where they receive both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure in geological sciences.
The department is supported by a well-equipped laboratory that enables students to conduct hands-on studies in mineralogy, petrology, paleontology, structural geology, geomorphology, and environmental geology. With access to rock and mineral specimens, maps, charts, and modern laboratory tools, students gain valuable practical skills that complement their classroom learning.
The Department of Geology aims to produce competent graduates who are capable of pursuing higher studies and research in geology, as well as career sin fields such as mining, environmental management, natural resource exploration, and geoscience education. By integrating theory, practical work, and field experience, the department nurtures analytical and scientific skills essential for success in the discipline.
